Things to note

Things to note

Surprisingly there are some Deer on the island, beware when driving at night

WEATHER: In September the sun is warm but there is a cool ocean breeze, it’s best to pack layers especially for early morning and late at night. It feels like summer during the day and the beginning of fall as the sun goes down.

Cell Service: Can be spotty in certain areas such as when driving. Service at the accommodations and anywhere with wifi is no problem. We recommend 1. Take a screen shot of the island map and directions to have 2. Plug the desired address into your gps and view directions before leaving your accommodation etc.

GROCERY: There is only one grocery store, located at the North Haven Inn & Market. So it is not a bad idea to bring with you to the island some chosen snacks, waters, or things you enjoy to have on hand as there is no store for late night snacks.

North Haven Market is open 7 days a week from 7:00am-7:00pm. Here you can find all your grocery needs, wine and beer.

They have breakfast and lunch prepared foods to go as well as coffee. There is a seated area to enjoy your meal or take it to a picnic table at one of the many beach spots.

Address: 124 PULPIT HARBOR ROAD, North Haven, ME, 04853, United States

ALCOHOL: Hard alcohol is not sold on the island, only beer and wine. If you plan on having drinks before or outside of wedding festivities grab it before your arrival. On your drive up you might want to stop at our favorite tax free liquor store: New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlet.

Address: Off I-95, Hampton, NH 03843

Dinner:

Thursday night- Nebo Lodge is one of the main restaurants on the island and also catering our wedding! They will be open for dinner to all guests, even if you are not staying at their Inn.

Friday night- Calderwood Hall / Brewery will be open for dinner service and some brews! FROM 4-5PM ONLY!!
PLEASE NOTE: we’re kicking things off with welcome drinks this night, but no food will be served—so make sure to grab a bite beforehand!

Those who have kitchen access in their accommodation, the North Haven Market is open until 7:00pm daily.

Why we love North Haven:

THE PEOPLE AND THE COMMUNITY

It is a self-sustaining, tight-knit community. The people here make the island run together—sharing resources, helping with daily essentials, and supporting one another in every way. It’s part of what makes this place so special.

It’s also incredibly safe—so much so that no one locks their doors or cars.
And when you’re driving around, don’t forget to wave! It’s tradition for islanders to greet each other on the road with a friendly wave. You’ll be waving.. a lot

North Haven Island captures the essence of a perfect New England summer—surrounded by the sea on all sides, with sweeping ocean views and pine trees lining the rocky coast. Wildflowers bloom along quiet roads, and the scent of salt air mixes with fresh-cut grass. The food here is as local as it gets—caught daily from the surrounding waters and harvested from nearby farms. It’s a place no photo can fully capture, only felt by being here.
