This is a local favorite beach spot!! Grab your blanket or chair (it’s a little bit rocky) and enjoy a beach day or picnic!
How to get there: Your guide is Mullen’s Head, it is located within this Park which is another spot you can explore. The beach water is called ‘Bank’s Cove’.
-Type in directions to Mullen’s head. This will bring you down S Shore Road and have you turn onto Mullen’s Head Rd.
-As you drive down this road you will come to multiple forks in the road, TAKE YOUR FIRST LEFT. This road does not have a name and looks like a driveway but it’s not. Take this road and go all the way down until you see the beach and picnic tables.

Guests choose their level of dry or steam bathing by adding water to the stones atop our Kuuma stove. They recommend you spend up to 15 minutes at a time in the hot room, with ample time to recover, hydrate, and enjoy the quiet calm of nature on our patio and covered porch.

Turner Farm

Turner Farm is home to most of the Island’s fresh produce. This is a perfect spot to grab breakfast in the morning at their farm stand (amazing bacon, egg and cheese on homemade bread + BEST coffee on the island). You’ll see some farm animals on this stunning property.
If you want a dinner experience -In their barn, they host a feast, celebrating the island harvest and beauty of Maine.

North Shore Preserve
A popular trail on one of the Island’s nature conservation properties. There are two different trails. On the bayside of the preserve, the 19 + acre parcel extends down to the ocean amid fields and forests. Hikers may enjoy a maintained footpath that leads to stunning views of West Penobscot Bay. A small parking lot is located just off North Shore Road. Located: North Shore Road (look at the map on our “Island Directions” page.
Ames Knob
Ames Knob is a summit located on the island of North Haven. It has an elevation of 141 feet and can be reached by a short hike from the village of North Haven. From the top of Ames Knob, one can enjoy views of Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills. Located: off Ames Knob Road (look at the map on our “island directions” page.
Mullens Head
Is a scenic park that has walking trails, picnic areas, and beautiful views of the surrounding landscape at the eastern bay. The park is known for its natural beauty, providing access to beaches, hiking trails, and even a campground. Located: Mullens head road (look at the map on our “Island Directions” page. This is the same entrance road that takes you to Big Beach. Instead of taking your first left to the beach, go straight and choose either right or left for an adventure.

New England style hazys as you’d expect them to be, delicious. Brewed on the island by two locals. The brewery is part of Calderwood Hall and can be found at the ground level. There is seating outdoors with hand crafted picnic tables and lobster pot seats.
